Fireman Saves Kitten

Maybe you have seen this video on YouTube before, but I have seen it all around on Facebook and tumblr, and I just couldn’t leave it alone. I had to share it with all of you. To show that there are good people in the world, and because this video is worth watching (grab some tissues).

The YouTube video follows fireman Cory Kalanick who rescues an unconscious kitten from a burning house filled with smoke.

The man is a hero — but all firemen are heroes, whether they save animals or humans. But the fact that this is filmed from so close is what — I think — makes it even more special. We hear stories about firemen saving kittens, but never get to see it. Well, this time you do.

The cat has been given oxygen, to get it to breathe again while it’s sprinkled with water. It took them 15 minutes and a full tank of air to get the kitten to meow and move again. The firefighters have named the kitten Lucky.

The sad part is that this is part of a commercial for a HD-camera. I personally don’t think a video like this should be used for a commercial. It feels a bit like an emotionally manipulative way to try to sell a product.

Don’t know how I feel about the use of this video. It is heartwarming and touching. Should it have been used in this manner? I’m really on the fence. Thanks for sharing. Hi to Suki and Hiro. When I first saw the video it was just posted on YouTube to show the luck of the kitten and the dedication of the fireman. Very sad that it’s been commercialised like this.

What a sweet video. It just made me smile. Should it have been used like this? Maybe not but other companies use animals in their adverts to inspire empathy too. At least this is real and not staged.

    Still, a lovely heartwarming video

oh, I am such a girl…I can’t stop crying…bless the fireman and bless young Lucky. It is wonderful that fire brigades have proper tools to help animals now. Blessed be!

It’s an enactment, all GoPro commercials are. This is an Hollywood style house fire. Just a slim smokescreeen to make it appear there was a fire. In reality, it is impossible to film inside a house on fire. Furthermore, light doesn’t go through smoke, it reflects on it and make it even harder to see.

Cute video, but nothing else. Sounds like GoPro is going the same path as Duracell. Make it sad, but totally unrealistic. According to Duracell commercials, they went on the moon… yeah right. I like some of the GoPro commercials, they are piece of arts. Just not this one. But cute :)
