I love my cats, I really do, I wouldn’t trade the world for them! But ever since I got them I also found out there are some things I can’t do anymore because of them. And I hope I’m not the only one!
Alone Bathroom Time
Hiro is afraid of the bathroom (the smells), but Suki loves the bathroom. And when we are brushing our teeth or showering, Suki will be watching us — it’s more staring really.
The last time I had candles burning Hiro almost burned his nose. That’s the reason I don’t burn candles in the house anymore. Next to the fact that they sometimes knock things over. I don’t want my house to be set on fire! So electric candles it is.
Standing up From the Table During Dinner
Big change the kitties will be eating from my delicious dinner once I stand up to grab something out of the kitchen. This is the reason I always bring the food to the table as last, or someone stays at the table to keep an eye out on the “hungry” kitties.
Waking Up After 6 a.m
Hiro wakes me up everyday between 5:30 a.m 6 a.m because he is hungry. This means I will always wake up before 6 a.m and I don’t always bother going back to bed if there are only 30 minutes left before my alarm goes off. When I am able to sleep in, I really don’t care and just go back to bed.
Throw Out Boxes
We always keep boxes from shoes or other things around for at least a few good weeks before we finally have to throw them away. Most of the time they are broken because Hiro tried everything to fit his butt in. Sometimes the box is just too big, so we have to kick it out of the way each time we have to pass it. But the entertainment it gives us and the cats is priceless.
I can’t keep flowers in the house anymore unless they are high on the shelves, but I only have those shelves in the bedroom and they barely get any sun there so they die pretty fast. The reason I have to keep them on high shelves the cats can’t reach is because Suki and Hiro will chew on the plants.
Keep Things On My Nightstand
Hiro is known here in the house to kick things off my night stand. Especially when he’s hungry and not getting my attention because I’m asleep. He’ll knock it all off! Lamps, alarm, my cellphone. Anything.
Clean Laundry Without Cat Hair
Please tell me I’m not the only one around here. When we take our clean laundry out of the washing machine, there are still cat hairs on it. This means we have to use this roller — to get the hair off clothes — on most of our clothes before we leave the house for work. I happen to have black working clothes, and Hiro’s white hairs are always all over it!
Leaving the House Before Checking On The Cats
Before I leave the home, I always check where the cats are. Aren’t they locked up, are they fine? Enough water? A pet over their head and I’m gone. Everyday is the same routine. It’s also difficult to leave the house everyday because there is a cat laying in front of the door who does not want me to leave…
What about you? Anything you can’t do anymore because you have cats?
