Cleaning or Loving?

I finally caught Hiro licking Suki on camera. Normally they always stop being cute with each other as soon as I get my camera or cellphone out. The quality isn’t great, it was taken with my cellphone! But look how adorable they are!

  1. It’s a problem with our cats – they seem to have “camera radar” and just when we think we’ve got the perfect shot – WHAMMO – off they go! This is really adorable though!!

  2. Everything everybody says above, repeated! (including the “what,” although Barney is usually a bit more accommodating than Bugs) This post is a birthday present for me. LOVELY! And a p.s. — ours is usually lick-bite-wallop-fur-fly. I read somewhere it’s part companionship/comfort and part dominance on the part of the guy who started it. Who knows. We are dealing with cats, after all. paw-waves.

  3. So sweet, especially as it did not end in an ear- and neck-biting, wrestling match. That’s how we like to end our bathing sessions, at least sibs Mauricio and Misty May do. Thanks for letting your mom snap these photos. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette

  4. Cleaning or loving? Possibly both.

I once saw a cat violently pushing and holding another cat to the ground so she could lick her. “I must clean you!”. They probably do it because they have affection for each other in the first place, I sure don’t imagine cats which cannot stand each other which would clean each other.

Have you noticed how they usually clean spots which are hard to clean on themselves, like the ears and the neck? Somehow, they do it out of necessity, though cats are able to do it anyway if they are left alone.

I suppose it’s both. Cleaning, because it easier this way, and loving, because they wouldn’t clean a cat they don’t like.
